Updates
Well, I haven't posted much at all this year. Two fests for ![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
severus_sighs and an ongoing thing for fan_flashworks is pretty much all I've posted, yet I've written over 35,000 words. Since I'm working towards 250,000 words for getyourwordsout, this is helpful ;) Anyway, I thought I'd do an update of my writing.

Get Your Words Out - January Update
Well, I signed up for getyourwordsout, and have just submitted January's total, and it comes to 20,623 words. This actually falls short of January's goal of 21,175, but not by much, so I'm pretty much on track so far. What amazes me is that I actually wrote 20,000 words, and could have written more. I still haven't written anything for two of the stories I wanted to get finished this month, but instead focussed on a couple of WIPs that don't require attention, and won't be posted until they're finished. Anyway...
I also posted a couple of meta posts, which I hadn't done before, but I really wanted to get my thoughts out into the open, and this way I can always come back to what I wrote at a later date.
Well, that's pretty much all I have to say on the matter, so I'll stop nattering on now. Coming up in the next week or so: some anti-Valentines Day Severus Snape fics forseverus_sighs, and maybe I'll finally get around to my Buffy/NCIS cross that's been languishing for the last however-long.

Feeling very grateful the nearest Mrs Fields is about 100km away
Back story: I had to travel into the state capital yesterday and today to deal with some tax stuff so that I might actually get some money. (Money, oh how I've missed you!) Well, the Tax Office is right in town, and when I say 'right in town' I mean right in town. We tried to find parking, only to find out that it was $15 for the first 30 minutes, going up to $55 if you happened to be there for 3 hours! Needless to say, we didn't park there. We went across the river, and parked about 1.6 km (I checked) from the building and paid $15 for the day. A 3.2km walk saved me a lot!
It also introduced me to Mrs Field's Cookies. I ♥ Mrs Field's Cookies. I am an instant addict to Mrs Field's Cookies. They are exactly the way I like them: real ingredients, soft baked and really, really yummy!
So glad I don't go into Brisbane more than once a blue moon!
ps: If Eldest Girl doesn't eat her Nibblers (that I brought back from Brisbane especially for dessert tonight, and haven't already eaten) soon she's not going to have them at all!

A comment to a friend while IM'ing...
I just realised something. JKR really separated Gryffindor out in the shield images. If you look at them, Gryffindor has a bright (gold) animal in a shield with a gold edge. All the rest are dark animals (black raven, black and white badger, and dark green snake) in shields with black edges. hmm....
If you go down the page you'll see all four shields together. The closest is the Hufflepuff shield with its cheery yellow background. Ravenclaws, though, are too smart and Slytherins too sneaky, and are eeeevil.
Starting to think I should change my profile to 'Actually does write fanfic now and then...'
